franck-muller-1900-s6-18ct-yellow-gold
Ref. 1900 S6 in 18ct Yellow Gold, Case Nº 03, Early 1990s

A Franck Muller ref. 1900 S6 in 18ct yellow gold, case number 03, engraved on the back with the line the house was founded under: Master of Complications. Silvered dial, applied gold batons and a sunk small seconds, on its original Franck Muller gold buckle.

The 1900 S6 is among the plainest watches in the early Franck Muller catalogue: round, time-only, with small seconds at six, made in the same years the house was presenting its tourbillons and grand complications. The early work was classically drawn, and this reference shows it most directly. It was made in yellow, white and rose gold. This one is 18ct yellow gold.

The case is 34mm across and 39.75mm from lug to lug, three-piece, with a stepped bezel and lugs that curve down to the strap. It is a small, flat case, just 6mm thick. The fluted gold crown is signed on its face with the FM monogram, and the back is brushed rather than polished, the plain ground for the engraving set out in the Record.

The dial is silvered and matte, signed in black serif capitals beneath twelve, FRANCK MULLER arched over GENEVE. The hour markers are faceted gold batons, applied rather than printed, with twelve doubled, and an outer track of dots runs round the edge with a gold dot at each hour. The small seconds is sunk below the main surface, its centre turned with fine concentric guilloché inside a railway track, a different texture from the matte field around it. A thin gold line is printed between the dot track and the batons, and the sunk seconds dial is edged with a narrow gold rim. The hour and minute hands are gold leaf, long and slender, with a matching gold seconds hand that carries a short pointed tail as a counterweight. Several of the applied batons have taken on a light patina, which shows against the clean silvered ground.

Inside is the Franck Muller calibre 7500, a manual-wind small seconds movement the house also used in its early tonneau and rectangular references of the same period. Here it drives nothing beyond the hours, minutes and running seconds.

The watch comes on a brown calf strap fastened by its original Franck Muller pin buckle in 18ct gold, with two grooves running round its frame and stamped 750 with the FM monogram on the underside, matching the gold of the case.

The marks, the movement and the condition are set out in the drawers below.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1080/3121/3907/files/franck-muller-1900-s6-yellow-gold-1_3fd0b6af-21ae-4919-bc27-171f4012ad4d.jpg?v=1792328139
