A solidly built Swiss Roskopf-type pocket watch in nickel, with a distinctive 24-hour inner chapter ring in red, made by the Société Horlogère de Reconvilier, one of the major producers of the early 20th-century Roskopf movement.

The Roskopf movement was the great democratiser of Swiss watchmaking. Invented by Georg Friedrich Roskopf in 1867, it was designed from the outset to be a reliable timepiece that the working man could afford. In the hands of Reconvilier, one of the main producers from 1902 onward, the concept was built to a high mechanical standard, and their watches regularly turn up still running over a century later.

This example dates to the 1910s and carries a white enamel dial with bold black Arabic numerals, a railway minute track, and a vivid red inner ring marking 13 to 24. It is a dual-format, civilian and 24-hour dial, a feature associated with railway, military, and telegraph timekeeping. The case interior is stamped 'S.H.R. 4110' - the maker's mark and the calibre number - and the dial is signed 'Gre. Roskopf' (a trade name used by S.H.R. under licence from the Roskopf estate).

Running very well. Mechanically the watch is in excellent working order - it winds, sets, and runs correctly with a strong mainspring.
