Goliath Railway Dial in Argentan, c.1910-1925
The DOXA name stamped into the gilt movement bridge tells you this is no anonymous Swiss production piece. Founded in Le Locle in 1889, DOXA built a reputation for reliable, well-finished movements at a time when Swiss watchmaking was at its peak.
This open-face example wears its argentan (nickel silver) case well at a commanding 66mm - a genuine pocket presence. The white enamel dial is clean and legible, with bold Arabic numerals and a sub-seconds register at 6 o'clock in the railway-watch tradition. The movement winds smoothly and runs reliably; setting is achieved via a push-piece release before the crown - a quality mechanism for the era.
The case carries honest surface scratching consistent with its age and working life, but presents solidly. No box or papers, no known service history. Serial number 784339. A dependable, characterful Swiss pocket watch from the golden age of the craft.
