The founding English-language word on Breguet
Published by Sir David Lionel Salomons in London in 1921, this Supplement is the companion volume to his monumental Breguet (1747-1823). The main book was, and remains, the founding English-language reference on Abraham-Louis Breguet, the horologist who reshaped what a pocket watch could do. Printed in an edition of 1,000, it is still cited by Christie's, Sotheby's and Bonhams when they catalogue Breguet material a century later.

The notes the main book could not wait for
Almost as soon as the main volume was set in type, further watches and clocks came to Salomons' attention. Rather than let the material go unrecorded, he issued this Supplement, the 'P.S. tacked on to every lady's letter' of his own Author's Note, to capture the pieces the main book had missed.

The volume that completes the set
Complete Salomons pairs appear from time to time; the Supplement on its own almost never does, because it is nearly always sold bound to its parent volume. A standalone copy is exactly the piece a part-finished set is waiting for.
