Signed by Rotterdam retailer v.d. Eerden's as a 'Spoor en Zee Chronometer' - a professional timekeeper for railway and maritime workers. In running order.

This Swiss open-face pocket watch, c.1890-1905, was retailed by v.d. Eerden's of Rotterdam under the designation "Spoor en Zee Chronometer" (Railway and Sea Chronometer) - supplied to railway and maritime workers in one of Europe's busiest ports. The retailer's signature appears in red script on the white enamel dial: "v.d. Eerden's / Spoor en Zee Chronometer / Rotterdam."

It is an honest working instrument: a 51.5mm white metal case, a clean enamel dial with Roman numerals and blue steel hands, sub-seconds at 6 o'clock, and a Swiss lever movement with gilt 3/4 plate in running order. The caseback features engine-turned guilloché decoration with an unengraved monogram cartouche. Running well, in good condition throughout.
