Silver Key-Wind Cylinder Watch from Geneva, c.1870
Made in Geneva during the golden era of Swiss horology, this pocket watch carries a movement signed "Fleury Geneve" - a Genevan maker working in the cylinder escapement tradition that defined Swiss watchmaking before the lever escapement took over in the later 19th century. The cylinder escapement places this firmly in the pre-lever era, dating the movement to approximately 1860-1880.
The movement, numbered 10774, is finished in gilded brass with a finger-plate bridge layout and 6 ruby jewels - honest quality for the period. It winds by key.
The silver open-face case is engraved on the outer back with scrollwork and floral motifs, decoration typical of export-quality Swiss watches of the era. The white enamel dial carries Roman numerals and a sub-seconds register at 6 o'clock. Condition is honest: the dial has a hairline crack, the inner case back bears the wear of many decades of use. The engraved outer back remains legible and attractive. Running status is to be confirmed - the watch requires a period winding key.
