Neoclassical Revival Watch Stand on a Pin Dish, c.1900
A desk stand for a pocket watch, cast and spun in yellow metal. The watch hangs from a hook set in the crest and rests against a round plate grooved with concentric rings. A palmette rises between scrolls and leaves above it, palmette ears project at each side and an oval cartouche hangs below. The plate sits on a fluted column flanked by scroll brackets hung with pine cones, with a gadrooned collar at its foot. The column stands in a shallow pin dish decorated in low relief with scrolling foliage within a lobed border, on a stepped round foot. Stamped DÉPOSÉ and E C beneath the foot.
