A Seiko Precision railway pocket watch, reference 6110-0010, made in February 1975.
Seiko began making railway watches to replace the Waltham, Elgin, Zenith and Omega watches then imported for the railways. The Type 19 of 1929 was the first domestic watch adopted by the Japanese Ministry of Railways, and it stayed in production until 1971. The 21 jewel 61RW followed in 1972 and ran until 1978, the last of Seiko's mechanical railway pocket watches before the quartz models that replaced it.
This example has the calibre 6110A, signed SEIKO 6110A, 21 JEWELS, JAPAN, with the regulator index marked plus and minus. It is a seconds-setting movement: pulling the crown out stops the seconds hand, so the watch can be set to the second.
The case is chrome plated, open face, 50.3mm, with a ring bow and a knurled crown. The snap-on caseback is stamped ACRP, 6110-0010, the serial 522566 and Japan. The white dial is signed Seiko Precision, 21 Jewels and Second Setting, with large black Arabic numerals, black spade hands, a slim seconds hand and a railway minute track around the edge. The crystal is acrylic.
It winds smoothly, sets cleanly and runs well. The case, dial and crystal are clean and in great condition.
