Red 24-Hour Chapter Ring, Pierced Gilt Hands, c.1895

This is a quality Swiss silver open-face from the mid-1890s, unsigned but distinguished by its dial. The white enamel face is arranged with purpose: bold Arabic hour numerals, a secondary 24-hour chapter ring printed in red around the circumference, and a sub-seconds register at 6 o'clock. The 24-hour ring is uncommon on civilian pocket watches of this period, almost certainly ordered for a specific professional need - a railway officer, a military man, or a traveler who could not afford to confuse AM and PM at a glance. The gilt hands are exceptional: fully pierced and skeletonized in an ornate scrollwork pattern.

The case is 0.800 silver, 46.5mm, with a guilloché engine-turned back. Swiss crown hallmark and 0.800 fineness confirmed. The gilt movement features a decorated cock and runs well.
