Cylinder Watch, White Enamel Dial, Engraved Silver, c.1870s

This is a Swiss open-face pocket watch of the type produced in large quantities for the European export market during the 1860s and 1870s - anonymous in manufacture, honest in condition, and entirely genuine in character. The movement is a cylinder escapement with key-wind action (key not included), running correctly and winding smoothly: a meaningful result for a watch of this age. The case is silver-tone with a snap-shut caseback and inner dust cover, engraved with foliate decoration to the rear. No British hallmarks are present - consistent with Swiss export pieces predating the 1887 import legislation that mandated them.

The white enamel Roman numeral dial is in very good condition, retaining full vibrancy and clarity with no chips or hairlines noted. Subsidiary seconds run at six o'clock. The case measures 48.8mm - a substantial, comfortable size in the hand.
